The home of Black & Gold is in the fertile county of East Lothian, Scotland where we have been growing oil seed rape on our farm, Stevenson Mains, for over 25 years. Black & Gold is one of the finest finishing oils produced in Scotland and we are proud of our single-farm provenance. It is used by the most famous chefs in the country. Stuart Muir, Executive Head chef of Harvey Nichols 4th Floor Restaurant believes it is in a class of its own “a superb flavour, an amazing rich, golden colour and a gem of a supplier."
We know from research carried out by Queen Margaret University that our oil contains naturally occurring antioxidants in the form of polyphenols and that these are still active after domestic cooking such as shallow frying.
Try dousing the oil on hot vegetables, drizzling on salads or toast. Suitable for all types of frying, baking and roasting. A versatile culinary oil and a local alternative to olive oil.
